I heard things in songs that I love I didnt know were there. I ordered this product from one of the used/new sellers (as I usually do, they usually come cheaper). Yes, upon the initial listening right out of the box, they were pretty heavy on the bass. Still bassy, yes, but from warming them up, the highs and mids were perfectly in balance with the lows. Oh, and very very comfortable on the head. Most headphones with drivers this size should be warmed up though, broken in ya know.
I just think the range of frequencies these cans deliver is wide enough to capture ALL of the bass, which is often lost with other headphones. I had read some of the other reviews of these cans and I have to agree with some of them. Being a bass player, I can really appreciate the higher than normal levels of bass, but I dont think that it's excessive. What I usually do is put on a playlist with a wide range of sound frequencies, set the volume at a medium to loud level (just above a comfortable volume on your ears) and let them sit for a few hours. After I had done that, I switched the EQ on my iPod back to "rock" from flat, and was stunned at the dynamic range. All around great product if you know how to treat your headphones.

Comfortable fit (good for long gaming sessions at the PC). Good sound reproduction. Overall, a great pair of headphones for the money.
Better build quality.(a little bulky though). I just returned bose on ear headphones for these and saved myself over $150. Comparable sound. Super bass wihtout sacrificing any highs as mentioned elsewhere. I just love them.
Don't believe those reviewers that suggest that a set of headphones needs to be broken in. My [.].$ Philips surround sound, in-ear plugs I picked up at a CVS pharmacy sounds ten times better than this piece of crap. This is so heavy with bass that I couldn't even hear some instruments that I knew were in the high ranges. Better to return this before the thirty days return time period elapses. Awful.
I bought this 2 years ago. I was quite surprised how durable they are and how well they sound. Loved these so much I decided to buy the HD650s just recently.
